Photographic Essay (CD)
A CD (Compact Disc) of German and Austrian photographs illustrates
the villages of our Germanna ancestors along with short comments. The format
of the information is the same as for a Web site and the information is
displayed using a "browser" such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, AOL, or
Netscape. Late versions of the MAC operating system can also display the
material. The big difference is that the information from the CD is almost
instantly available.
Not all of the photos are of the villages as this scene of the
Heidelberg castle lighted at night shows. However, some of our ancestors
might have seen this building above the Neckar River. Heidelberg was within
25 miles of the majority of the Second Colony emigrants.
Freudenberg, about nine west of Siegen, is a popular spot with the
camera carrying tourist. Many different styles of buildings are to be seen
in Germany. Many of the First Colony people came from this area.
Klings, the home of Cyriacus Fleshman before he moved to Neuenbuerg,
has a beautiful setting but other villages do also. This was just over the
border in the former East Germany.
A few of the purchasers have sent comments on the CD:
